Shrek Forever After: The last one, we hope

DreamWorks hit big when they released Shrek! (2001), a full-length animated film featuring the voices of Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz, Eddie Murphy, and John Lithgow. You remember that pop ditty by the Counting Crows off the original soundtrack — Accidentally In Love? Yeah, we do too.

Three films after — the original was followed by Shrek 2 (2004) and Shrek the Third (2007) — we’re gonna be treated to what we hope is the last of the series: Shrek Forever After.

The trailer was released a couple of days back, and so here it is for your viewing pleasure.

This film is directed by Mike Mitchell (Deuce Bigalow, Sky High) and brings the gang back together for one last romp in the woods. It will be a bit different — watch the trailer and you’ll see why. The Shrek franchise has had a very good lifespan — you will see the DVD and Blu-ray discs in any self-respecting kids’ home video collection. There have been video game spin-offs and such, and the merchandise still sells.
This last part is going to come to theaters very soon, so we will probably bring out our old Shrek DVDs and play them on the external DVD drive for a reminder of why we really love this series.
