Now In Theaters: Vacancy, Stephanie Daley, Fracture

Vacancy

VacancyWhen David (Luke Wilson) and Amy Fox’s (Kate Beckinsale) car breaks down in the middle of nowhere, they are forced to spend the night at the only motel around, with only the TV to entertain them… until they discover that the low-budget slasher movies they’re watching were all filmed in the very room they’re sitting in.

With hidden cameras now aimed at them… trapping them in rooms, crawlspaces, underground tunnels… and filming their every move, David and Amy must struggle to get out alive before whomever is watching them can finish their latest masterpiece.

This drama thriller also stars Frank Whaley, Andrew Fiscella, Dale Waddington Horowitz and directed by Nimrod Antal.

Stephanie Daley

Amber Tamblyn in Stephanie DaleyWhen 16-year-old Stephanie Daley is accused of murdering her newborn, she claims she never knew she was pregnant and that the child was stillborn. A forensic psychologist, Lydie Crane, is hired to determine the truth behind Stephanie’s continuing state of denial.

Lydie is pregnant herself and grappling with her shaky marriage, as well as a growing intuition that something may go wrong with her own unborn child. Her encounters with Stephanie soon lead her to believe that unraveling the teenager’s mystery is crucial to her own fate.

Starring Tilda Swinton, Amber Tamblyn, Timothy Hutton, Melissa Leo, and Jim Gaffigan. With Hilary Brougher at the helm.
Fracture

FractureWhen Ted Crawford discovers that his beautiful younger wife, Jennifer, is having an affair, he plans her murder–the perfect murder. Among the cops arriving at the crime scene is hostage negotiator Detective Rob Nunally, the only officer permitted entry to the house.

Surprisingly, Crawford readily admits to shooting his wife, but Nunally is too stunned to pay close attention when he recognizes his lover, whose true identity he never knew, lying on the floor in a pool of blood. Although Jennifer was shot at point blank range, Nunally realizes she isn’t dead.

Crawford is immediately arrested and arraigned after confessing–a seemingly slam-dunk case for hot shot assistant district attorney Willy Beachum, who has one foot out the door of the District Attorney’s office on his way to a lucrative job in high-stakes corporate law. But nothing is as simple as it seems, including this case.

With a full-house cast including Oscar winner Anthony Hopkins, Academy Award nominees Ryan Gosling and David Strathairn, Rosamund Pike, and Embeth Davidtz. Directed by Gregory Hoblit.
