The first teaser trailer for “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” surfaced online earlier this week. This time, director Michael Bay is taking the action off-planet and into space.
Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon will be in theaters July 01, 2011 in 3D. Directed by Michael Bay and produced by Steven Spielberg. Starring Shia LaBeouf, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, John Turturro and Ramón Rodríguez, with Peter Cullen as the voice of Optimus Prime, and Hugo Weaving as the voice of Megatron.

Marvel and Paramount have released the first official trailer for Kenneth Branagh’s superhero movie which opens in May 2011 and alongside Natalie Portman will be Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Anthony Hopkins as Odin, Kat Dennings as Darcy and Rene Russo as Frigga.

The Tourist was written and directed by Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck and also stars Paul Bettany, Rufus Sewell, and Timothy Dalton.

The official plot synopsis for Michael Bay‘s upcoming third Transformers film, Transformers: The Dark Of The Moon, has been leaked online says that in the upcoming movie: “The Autobots Bumblebee, Ratchet, Ironhide and Sideswipe led by Optimus Prime, are back in action, taking on the evil Decepticons, who are determined to avenge their defeat in 2009’s Transformers Revenge of the Fallen. In this new movie, the Autobots and Decepticons become involved in a perilous space race between the U.S. and Russia, and once again human Sam Witwicky has to come to the aid of his robot friends. There’s new characters too, including a new villain in the form of Shockwave, a longtime “Transformers” character who rules Cybertron while the Autobots and Decepticons battle it out on Earth.”

Transformers: The Dark Of The Moon is set to hit theaters on July 1st 2011.

Saw 3D: The Final Chapter synopsis:

As a deadly battle rages over Jigsaw’s (Tobin Bell) brutal legacy, a group of Jigsaw survivors gathers to seek the support of self-help guru and fellow survivor Bobby Dagen (Sean Patrick Flanery), a man whose own dark secrets unleash a new wave of terror. Meanwhile, Mark Hoffman (Costas Mandylor) and Jill Tuck (Betsy Russell) battle over Jigsaw’s legacy.

“Saw 3D” is scheduled to open i theaters nationwide on October 29, 2010.

Resident Evil: Afterlife is an upcoming 3D science fiction horror film directed by Paul W. S. Anderson.  Resident Evil: Afterlife is the fourth installment of the hugely successful ResEvil movie franchise. This movie is based on the wildly popular video game series Resident Evil. In the search for the movie Alice and rescue of survivors who remained in Los Angeles of the T-virus outbreak, the uniting against Albert Wesker, head of the Umbrella Corporation. Alice also comes face to face with his enemy, Albert Wesker, for the first time in the series face. When you enter the ruins of Los Angeles, she falls on a roof, surrounded by zombies.  Then he joined a group of survivors hiding in Los Angeles since the beginning of the T-Virus, were helping to free another group of people in prison, the brother of light, Chris Redfield.

Resident Evil: Afterlife 3D can be watched both in conventional, 3D and IMAX-3D theaters worldwide beginning September 10, 2010. The full cast includes: Milla Jovovich, Ali Larter, Spencer Locke, Wentworth Miller, Shawn Roberts, Boris Kodjoe, Kim Coates, Norman Yeung and Kasey Barnfield.

Resident Evil: Afterlife Synopsis: In a world ravaged by a virus infection, turning its victims into the Undead, Alice continues on her journey to find survivors and lead them to safety. Her deadly battle with the Umbrella Corporation reaches new heights, but Alice gets some unexpected help from an old friend. A new lead that promises a safe haven from the Undead leads them to Los Angeles, but when they arrive the city is overrun by thousands of Undead and Alice and her comrades are about to step into a deadly trap.

Surrogates starring Bruce Willis

First up is a new Bruce Willis film (yes, he’s still alive), and a sci-fi film, at that. The film is dubbed Surrogates. Set in a future environment where a technological breakthrough allows people to purchase cyborg copies of themselves – surrogates (hence the title) that allow them to have perfect little copies of themselves live out their outside lives for them. A film in the mold of sci-fi thrillers iRobot and Minority Report, the evergreen Bruce Willis plays an FBI detective tasked to investigate the murder of a student highly involved in the surrogate-making technology. The investigation leads Willis’ character through dilemmas regarding truth and trust, because really, when everybody around you isn’t “real” what do you do?

Surrogates also stars Radha Mitchell, Rosamund Pike, Ving Rhames, and directed by Jonathan Mostow for Touchstone Pictures/Disney. The film hits the theaters September 25.

Ninja Assassin starring Rain

For your “whoah-what-the-heck-was-that?!?” visual effects fix, Ninja Assassin should do the job just fine. Rain, or Jeong Ji-Hoon if you really want to be accurate, stars in this martial arts flick that promises to be packed with action sequences and fight scenes that would bring any gamer or visual effects geek to gamer heaven. Rain is one of South Korea’s more successful imports, and has already starred with Ewan McGregor in Speed Racer. The plotline for this movie is pretty basic – with a title like that, you couldn’t really guess wrong. Rain stars as Raizo, an assassin (you probably guessed right), who breaks free from his uber-secret organization and exacts revenge on them for killing his best friend. Sounds familiar? Don’t worry, watching the trailer would make you disregard the title and plotline and make you want to watch this just for the awesome-ness of the fight scenes. And yes, never mind the parts of the trailer pointing to 300, the similarities end there. See for yourself.

Ninja Assassin is set to be released on November 25, under Warner Bros., and is directed by V for Vendetta director James McTeigue.

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, new animated feature

Next up is an animated feature from Columbia Pictures and Sony Pictures Animation sure to satisfy your, errr… palates (?) – Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs. This is an adaptation from the well-loved children’s book of the same title written by Judi Barrett.

The book tells of the town of Chewandswallow (chew and swallow, get it?), where the weather comes 3 times a day – breakfast, lunch, and dinner – and is always in the form of food and beverages. The precipitation is juice and soup, the snow is mashed potatoes, and the wind brings hamburgers, and… you get the idea. However, floods and storms do come – creating food-induced problems of a different kind – the school getting smothered beneath a giant pancake, or a tomato sauce tornado, and giant meatballs crushing the town. Fun, eh?

Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs Movie Trailer

The movie itself tries to tell the origin of Chewandswallow’s food problems (not the lack of it, unfortunately). Bill Hader (of Saturday Night Live fame) and Anna Faris voice the two lead characters – inventor Flint Lockwood, and weathergirl Sam Sparks. Also in the movie are James Caan who plays Flint’s father, and Mr. T (yes, the Mr. T) who plays a town cop. The movie is scheduled to bring home the bacon (sorry, couldn’t help it) on September 18, and is directed by Shrek 3 director Chris Miller.

Academy Award winner Angelina Jolie stars as the wife of reporter Daniel Pearl, who was kidnapped and murdered while on assignment in Pakistan in 2002.

On January 23, 2002, Mariane Pearl’s world changed forever. Her husband Daniel, South Asia bureau chief for the Wall Street Journal, was researching a story on shoe bomber Richard Reid. The story drew them to Karachi where a go-between had promised access to an elusive source. As Danny left for the meeting, he told Mariane he might be late for dinner. He never returned.

In the face of death, Danny’s spirit of defiance and his unflinching belief in the power of journalism led Mariane to write about his disappearance, the intense effort to find him and his eventual murder in her memoir “A Mighty Heart: The Brave Life and Death of My Husband Danny Pearl.”

Evan Almighty

Evan Almighty is the sequel to the Jim Carrey original, Bruce Almighty. Steve Carell (The Office) stars as a self-obsessed congressman who is commanded by God to build an ark to prepare for a flood.

And so Evan leaves Buffalo behind and shepherds his family to suburban northern Virginia. Once there, his life gets turned upside-down when God appears and mysteriously commands him to build an ark. But his befuddled family just can’t decide whether Evan is having an extraordinary mid-life crisis or is truly onto something of Biblical proportions.

Also starring Morgan Freeman (reprising his role as God), Lauren Graham, John Goodman, and Jimmy Bennett. Tom Shadyac directs.

Broken English

Parker Posey stars as Nora Wilder, a cynical thirty-something Manhattanite hoping to break out of the same old disastrous patterns in life and love.

Nora plugs away at her job in a posh downtown hotel and can’t help but wonder what it is she has to do to find a relationship as ideal as her friend Audrey’s “perfect marriage.” It doesn’t help that her overbearing mother takes every opportunity to remind Nora that she’s still unattached. After a series of disastrous first dates, she meets Julien, a seemingly devil-may-care Frenchman with a passion for living.

Expecting another disastrous ending, Nora tries to avoid making the same mistakes. Inevitably, Nora has to look inward before she can find a new outlook on life and most importantly, love.

Also stars Drea de Matteo, Gena Rowlands, Justin Theroux, and Josh Hamilton. Directed by Zoe R. Cassavetes.

Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer is a 2007 superhero film which is the sequel to the 2005 film Fantastic Four and based upon the comic of the same name. Tim Story returns to direct Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer with Jessica Alba, Michael Chiklis, Chris Evans, Ioan Gruffudd, Julian McMahon and Kerry Washington reprising their roles.

The enigmatic, intergalactic herald, the Silver Surfer, comes to Earth to prepare it for destruction. As he races around the globe wreaking havoc, Reed, Sue, Johnny and Ben must unravel the mystery of the Silver Surfer and confront the surprising return of their mortal enemy, Dr. Doom, before all hope is lost.

Warner Bros. and producer Joel Silver are revving up a new version of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe for the big screen. A script is being created for the action figure-turned-animated-hero, but He-Man’s original creator Mattel Toys will have final approval over the script. In the past, Mattel has said no to another proposed film version of their franchise.

The idea this time is to make He-Man in the style of the recent Warner Bros. smash 300, rather than hewing in any way to the 1987 Dolph Lundgren starring flop. That’s something to watch out for…

In 2003 actor Christopher Lee‘s character Saruman was cut from The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. Redemption but was eventually found via Jackson’s Extended DVD version.

Now, Playbill Magazine is reporting that several ghost characters added into Tim Burton’s film version of the musical Sweeney Todd have been cut out, including a Gentleman Ghost to have been played by Lee. No hard feelings, though, as this time the erstwhile Dracula hasn’t filmed his scenes yet.

Joan Cusack, Chris O’Donnell and Julia Ormond are on  board Kit Kittredge: An American Girl Mystery, the first movie based on the popular American Girl line of dolls with Abigail Breslin in the title role.

“Kit Kittredge” tells the story of a clever, resourceful 10-year-old who helps her mother (Ormond) run a Cincinnati boardinghouse when her father (O’Donnell) loses his job. Cusack will play a nurse who moves into the boardinghouse. Patricia Rozema will direct and Julia Roberts is an executive producer.
